The Hague, Netherlands – Leiden University Campus, June 16, 2026
The Civil Development Organization (CDO) provided financial support to students from the College of Law at the University of Sulaimani to participate in the International Bar Association International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (IBA ICCMCC), which takes place annually in The Hague. This year, 94 legal teams representing 48 countries are participating in the competition.
Rozha Mohammed, Projects Manager at CDO, said that this support is part of CDO’s efforts to support youth in general and the legal field in particular. In early 2026, CDO, with the support of the two British organizations, the International Law Book Facility (ILBF) and Africa House London (AHL), and in the presence of a representative of the UK Consulate in the Kurdistan Region, provided a number of legal academic resources to the College of Law, which were donated by the UK legal community. Those resources were used by the students in this competition.
Assistant Professor Dr. Karzan Izzat, who led the delegation, said that this participation has an important role in improving students’ capacity to become more familiar with international law and, at the same time, provides an opportunity to strengthen networking with universities around the world.
