In order to support young refugees and help them obtain their own occupation and financial resources, on October 7, Arbat Community Center which is a project implemented by CDO in partnership with UNHCR, provided barbering equipment including barbering special chair, Hair dryer, scissors, hair brush,razor, shaving machine and towel to 12 participants of the previously conducted barbering course
On September 27 Civil Development Organization –CDO in partnership with UNFPA conducted a workshop at Titanic Hotel in Sulaymaniyah about Gender-Based Violence Standard Operating Procedures Overview, a number of governmental and organization staffs with related sectors participated in the workshop.
Opinions and experiences of the participants were discussed about many topics such as: use of standard procedures in both negative and positive aspects, the obstacles which they faced while carrying out the procedures and their next steps to improve the procedures.
At the end the participants provided their feedback and suggestions in order to improve the procedures and approach more people with related sectors of Combating Violence Project.
Civil Development Organization (CDO) opened a computer course for 20 host community children in Darbandikhan.
The computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Word and Paint are the contents of the course. The course will continue for 1 month.
On September 26 Civil Development Organization – CDO in partnership with UNFPA conducted the third and last Mandatory Reporting workshop in Erbil.
Directorate of Combating Violence against Women, a number of organization staffs, doctors, lawyers and judges participated in the workshop from the three governorates Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok.
The workshop discussed writing a content of agreement to make changes in the mandatory reporting laws, and the report would become a choice to the survivors while they are getting medical treatments.
After a thorough discussion, they decided to prepare the contents of agreement in cooperation with related parties to manage the process and change it into a better way according to the procedures to offer the best services and treatments to violence survivors.
Two other workshops were conducted previously in Kurdistan Region about the same subject, and this was the third one.
Civil Development Organization in partnership with UNICEF, as one of the activities of Gender-Based Violence and Psychological- Social Support Project, conducted a training in order to raise awareness and convey aims and messages of the project, in participation of a number of lawyers, teachers, journalists, Mullahs, governmental employees and a number of young volunteers.
Gender-Based Violence core concepts, legal procedures and types of services of the related sectors and organizations were discussed.
